Penang World Music Festival April 7, 2013

da möchte ich doch gleich mal noch einen Blogeintrag persönlich widmen – und zwar meiner „kleinen“ Uli, meine ehemalige Mitbewohnerin zu Studienzeiten, die immer noch fleißig meinen Blog verfolgt und für die es immer noch nicht zu öde sein scheint. Vielen Dank liebe Uli fürs regelmäßige Lesen. Schön zu wissen, dass mein Geblogge nicht ganz umsonst ist.

Also, extra für dich jetzt ein paar Fotos und Videos, denn meine Reise war ja mit dem ganzen Sightseeing in Penang noch nicht vorbei. Das Highlight kam nämlich erst – 2 Tage World Music Festival in Penang als Supergroupie von Kalayo, meiner allerliebsten philippinischen Band. Dank Vitamin B konnte ich sogar in den Backstage Bereich. Zu sehen gab es natürlich auch noch viele andere Bands – insgesamt 12 Stück aus den verschiedensten Ländern. Hier meine Top 3:

1.  Kalayo (Philippinen): mittlerweile sind sie ja wieder zu acht – dank Carol Bello, der interessantesten Sängerin die ich je live gehört hab

 

2. Oratnitza feat. Kipri (Bulgarien): – eine echt interessante Band bestehend aus 4 Jungs – http://oratnitzaband.wordpress.com/

 

3. Dagaya (Japan): ein paar ganz normale Japaner, die in ihrer Freizeit perfekt einstudierte Musik machen

 

Die Location ar übrigens auch recht faszienierend, im Gelände des Botanischen Gartens von Penang. Wäre es nur nicht ganz so schwül heiß gewesen….naja, immherin fingen die Bands auch erst ab 18Uhr an mit Spielen. Vorher wäre man in der Sonne zerflossen. Für diejenigen, die sich doch schon eher raus trauten gab es ein paar verschiedene Workshops bei denen die besonderen Musikinstrumente der einzelnen Länder vorgestellt worden und noch einiges anderes.

dieses Mal werder ihr wohl den Artikel auf Englisch lesen müssen, denn ich hab Nicole, einer supernetten Engländerin, versprochen, einen persönlichen Eintrag zu schreiben.

So now I will just switch into English. I know that most of you will be able to understand it anyways and for the rest i can just say enjoy the photos. By the way, the photos are the reason why I am writing in English now. As I mentioned I met this lovely young British girl named Nicole during my trip. After having arrived in Penang by bus she asked me if we wanted to share a taxi getting into Georgetown, the center of Penang. We had a nice conversation during our taxi ride and so we decided to have dinner and explore Penang together for the next day. Since I was all by myself (I was supposed to meet Boy and the rest of his band Kalayo, who were invited to play at the Penang Worl Music Festival 2013, only a few days later  ) I really enjoyed having someone that freindly to share my holidays with.

we wandered all aound Georgetown, walked up the Penang Hill (accomplishing around 1000steps) starting from the Botanical Garden (which was properly the most exhausting route we could have taken), we ate Indien food, Malay food and European bakery food (my favorite of course, hehe) and we savored the nature of the Penang National Park on our last day. Walking around together we noticed that we were constantly taking the same photos. So I promised Nicole, I will write a personal blog entry and see if her  photos came out the same as mine.:-)

So thanx again Nicole for some really enjoyable days in Penang.
